TOURCO Expands Product Offerings for 2000
Launches Inns, Resorts & Character Properties Brochure

[Hyannis, Cape Cod, MA-April 2000] TOURCO, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year as the east coast’s premier inbound specialist, has expanded its already prodigious product line for 2000/2001. TOURCO’s existing portfolio of travel products include fly drive tours, FIT and motorcoach tours, city packages, gateway services, FIT hotels and inns, resorts and character properties, escorted coach and minivan tours and cultural tours. TOURCO Territory, diverse and distinctive, comprises the American South, Mid-Atlantic and New England and Eastern and Maritime Canada, with more gateways than any other North American destination.

Destinnations New England: In March, TOURCO acquired Destinnations New England, a consortium of 40 of New England’s finest country inns, resorts and character properties. With the addition of Destinnations New England’s forty distinguished properties and expansion of its existing product, TOURCO now offers the travel trade and consumers the entire gamut of New England lodging options, from smaller traditional country inns and resorts to full-service city hotels-and everything in between. Under the Destinnations New England trade name, TOURCO will market tailor-made New England itineraries of stays at participating properties to consumers and travel agents in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany-a first for TOURCO, which has traditionally sold only to the travel trade.

Yankee Magazine Vacations: In April, TOURCO launched its joint venture with Yankee, Yankee Magazine Vacations. Yankee Magazine Vacations is a landmark venture for TOURCO. This will be its first foray, together with offering the Destinnations New England product, into selling directly to consumers. For more than 60 years, Yankee has featured the best of New England, and, together with TOURCO in this venture, Yankee Magazine Vacations provides easy, dependable access to consumers and travel agents to visit the places Yankee loves best. TOURCO’s new and expanded product line endows Yankee Magazine Vacations with the full spectrum of regional lodging, from traditional country inns, character properties, boutique hotels and resorts to full-service hotels.

Both the Detinnations New England and Yankee Magazine Vacations programs significantly augments TOURCO’s existing product offerings.

Back Roads & Country Inns of New England: TOURCO’s new and long-anticipated six-night/seven-day escorted New England maxivan tour-Back Roads & Country Inns of New England-with 38 departures limited to eight passengers (in a spacious 15-passenger van) is now available and is offered in English and German.

Inns, Resorts & Character Properties: TOURCO recently released its Inns, Resorts & Character Properties brochure, completely separate from Destinnations New England and Yankee Magazine Vacations, both of which have their own dedicated brochures. The 44-page, full color travelogue presents TOURCO’s 2000/2001 property line in New England, the South and Mid-Atlantic regions of the US and Eastern and Maritime Canada. The brochure, which provides complete property descriptions, amenities, ratings, property images and wholesale pricing, makes tour planning simple and efficient. Properties included in TOURCO’s 2000/2001 program range from intimate ten-room 19th century sea captains’ houses, genteel ante-bellum mansions and small country inns to spectacular, full-service seaside resorts. One theme is common to all TOURCO properties-each is uncommon and represents excellence among its peers.

Scrapbook of Learning Adventures: TOURCO continues in its efforts to promote cultural and heritage tourism with its Scrapbook of Learning Adventures, a catalogue detailing an array of theme itineraries highlighting cultural, historic and heritage themes and venues in TOURCO Territory, the Atlantic coast from the Canadian Maritimes through the Southern US. The tours appeal to a diversity of special interests, with itineraries themed around everything from music to maple syrup, such as Covered Bridges of the White Mountains, Icons and Epitaphs, which explores historic Massachusetts burial grounds, A Taste of New England, a culinary tour showcasing regional foods, Lights of the Big Bays visits lighthouses in Delaware and Chesapeake Bays and Ghosts of the Confederacy, which explores facts and fantasies of the South.

TOURCO’s Deluxe Motorcoach Tours explore New England on comfortable deluxe coaches, range from five to 14 nights and are escorted by professionally-trained TOURCO guides or tour directors. These tours depart from multiple gateways and include lodging, admission to sights and attractions and some meals. Both Flexi-Fly Drive and Custom Fly Drive Tours, departing from several gateways, are pre-planned or tailor-made to passenger specifications. City packages are also available for Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, PA; Washington, DC; and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In all cases, travel documents and itineraries are available in German, Dutch, French, Italian and Spanish in addition to English.

TOURCO, with two decades of industry experience, offers destination expertise, pre-blocked space to ensure availability, excellent pricing due to its high-volume purchasing power, fully customized quotes, professionally-trained guides and escorts and local hospitality. No domestic tour operator possesses greater quality and diversity of product, more effective delivery mechanisms, a more outstanding reputation or a more professional and caring staff than TOURCO, which is truly an industry leader.
