Glenn Faria has more than twenty years'
experience in tourism public relations, marketing and operations
for destination markets, airlines, lodging, holiday and travel
shows, restaurants and sights and attractions throughout New
England and abroad.
Faria's fascination for travel and tourism
began with his years in the restaurant industry in his native
Connecticut. His love for New England began long before that;
affection for the region he has always called home, naturally,
led to a career in its destination marketing.
Faria's expertise in destination marketing,
training and the development of tourism partnerships has made
him a sought-after speaker for industry conferences and seminars.
He has crafted comprehensive, long-term strategic partnerships
with major air carriers such as Northwest Airlines, Continental
Airlines, Icelandair, US Airways Express, Colgan Air, Cape Air
and Nantucket Airlines.
For a decade, he has been actively involved
in working with the public sector, including Massachusetts
Port Authority, Massachusetts Office of Travel
& Tourism, Discover New England, New England
USA and others.
Faria was responsible for launching and
re-positioning several lodging facilities and served in key positions
for MHM, Inc., Beacon Hotel Group and Konover
Hotel Corporation. He was founder of INN Inc., a corporate
hospitality merchandising firm which evolved into Michael
Patrick Destinations & Communications (MPDC )-a full-service
tourism communications firm offering public relations, destination
marketing and strategic planning for travel and tourism-of which
he is president. MPDC's press and media relations initiatives,
special events and destination marketing activities generate
heightened visibility utilizing partnerships, often between public
and private entities. Partnership development and strategic planning
are at the core of the firm's service package.
Faria has been the motivating force behind
a number of regional events, including the Salute to Salem,
Nantucket Arts and Nantucket Wine Festivals. He
maintains active memberships in many industry organizations,
sits on several boards throughout the region, including the Massachusetts
Office of Travel & Tourism's newly-formed International
Marketing Task Force. He is a frequent speaker both in the US
and abroad at industry events and has contributed to trade publications
and, recently, was a featured writer in International Marketing
Review, HSMAI's international marketing publication.
He earned the Certified Hotel Sales Executive (CHSE) designation
in 1997 and was appointed a member of the International Marketing
Committee of the Cape Cod Convention & Visitors Bureau.
During his career, Faria has completed
more than 2,000 travel agent training sessions, has spoken on
more than 100 public relations panels and, as an industry spokesman,
has been quoted extensively in the media. Because of his diligence,
tenacity and perseverance, Faria has alternately been known as
"the little engine that could."
Faria resides in the village of Osterville
on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. |
